It's interesting that of the things I sell on my site, sheet music is by far the most popular.  For this reason I've invested time and resources into producing sheet music for more of my piano arrangements.  So... here comes more sheet music!

As of today I have seven new songs and 3 new bundles available.

New bundles:
I've put a lot of time and work into these so I sincerely hope you will find these arrangements a joy to play!

I've had quite a few requests for the sheet music for my version of "The Prayer" -- and here it is!

Watch the video for this song here.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to point out a few major updates!
  1. I have a new piano CD available for sale now!  The CD is titled "Be Thou My Vision" and it's a compilation of mostly traditional hymns based on arrangements I've done on YouTube over the last couple of years.  Take a look at my little "commercial" for it here on YouTube.  You can buy it here!
  2. I now have a new website address and a new website design!  The address is CarltonForrester.com.  Depending on how you're reading this post, you may already be there!  Anyway, I'm still working on finishing up a few details so please be patient as I'm make tweaks here and there.
  3. Also, I wanted to point you to my lasted piano upload.  It's How Deep the Father's Love. You can also find it on my Videos page.
  4. Lastly, I've had a lot of requests for additional sheet music so if you're interested in that, I'm in the process of transcribing several new songs now.  Those should be available within the next few weeks.
Thanks for listening!
Carlton

Lately I haven't had a lot of free time so recording and writing have been slow going.  However, I did manage to finish recording When You Smile yesterday.  I really appreciate the positive comments I've had on it so far.

Also, I wanted to thank a couple more youtubers for posting videos of my arrangements.  It means a lot that they would like it enough to take the time to learn it and record it themselves!
Please take a look at these rate/comment if you can!

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to let you know of a couple of minor updates.  I've posted MP3s for a couple of songs that I put on YouTube a while back (but haven't had the time to update here):
Lastly, I want to say "Thank You" to everyone who has become a fan on Facebook!  I'm just a guy who likes to play my little songs and it's amazing and humbling to me that people want to listen.

Thanks!
Carlton

It's been a little while since I've posted anything new here so I wanted to leave a note to let everyone know that I'm still around!  I'm working on several new things -- it's just a matter of finding the time to finish them up.  I've been very busy with my (non-musical) work lately so hopefully things will calm down soon.

Here are a few interesting tidbits.  Recently other youtubers have posted videos of a couple of my arrangements:

I thank both Luis and Rebecca for their videos!  They're both very talented pianists!  Please consider leaving them some feedback.

I received a little press from FredXburg Media, a local media production company with whom I've worked recently.  I met Mark Wright (the owner) for lunch one day for an interview regarding my music.  Click here to view the story.  I want to thank Mark for his interest and doing the story!

Last thing, I've been receiving a lot of questions about when the sheet music for Amazing Grace will be available (since I said it would be availble soon in my last newsletter). The current status of the sheet music is that it is almost done!  It should only be a few more days.  I will post it here as soon as it's ready.

Thanks for listening and reading!

This is a piano / orchestral piece that I've been working on for a couple weeks. The video shows the piano track being recorded. There are 10 other orchestral tracks that were recorded seperately.

On my list of dream jobs, one would be to write soundtracks/score for movies. I would *love* the chance to take a movie that has a blank slate musically and add the emotion through music. For me, a movie can live or die based on the music. It creates the emotional connection. I wrote this song as if it were a score for a movie. It wanders, rising and falling, to a climax and then repeats.

So, if you're currently working on the next blockbuster Hollywood hit and need a soundtrack call me!

Posted video for Near the Cross.

This is an arrangement I put together a few weeks ago for an offertory for an Easter service. It's a workout for the left hand -- and I hope it doesn't overpower the melody.

Posted video for Just Like Two Rivers.

A few years ago I wrote this song by request for a close relative's wedding. I had all but forgotten about it until I was recently asked about it again (to be used in another wedding). Having lost the old recording I recorded this.

The original recording was more "produced" in that it had a more orchestral sound to it (strings, timpani, chimes, etc.).  This recording was done using the instruments that will be used in the upcoming wedding ceremony (piano, guitar, flute, oboe -- or another flute -- still TBD).  I'm going to have the sheet music written for the these parts (for the wedding) so that should be available in the near future.

Posted video for Days.

For YouTubers this song will be a departure from most of the songs I've posted so far (as most have been piano solos).  I've been playing around with this song since September of 2007 and finally finished it up now.

The song was recorded in multiple tracks using Sonar. Tracks include: 2 drum, 1 bass, 2 accoustic guitar, 1 electric guitar, 1 piano, 3 vocals, 2 pads and 2 bells.  The vocals and guitars we recorded through mics and everything else is digital (from the XV-88, S90-ES or Ivory VST).

As always, I'm experimenting with the video.   I used two cameras and three studio lights (taken from my photography equipment) to create the effect of focused light in a dark environment.  There are lots of shadows which is the intended effect.

I did the final video mix/edit in Sony Vegas where I used softening and desaturation filters to finish the look.

What Child is This and O Holy Night are my favorite Christmas songs.  I have stand-alone versions of each of them.  Again, while working on an offertory arrangement, I found a way to merge them.

I tried a new video technique for this post.  The overhead camera, I recorded to HD format so that I could zoom in during different parts of the song where my hands were closer together.  This is done post-editing in Sony Vegas.  The HD format provide enough resolution so that the video doesn't go blurry on the close up shots.  I know that a lot of YouTubers like to learn to play a song from watching the video.  I think this would make that easier.
