Video Post: Return to a Dream (Original Composition)

New Song or Video, All Posts

This is a piano / orchestral piece that I've been working on for a couple weeks. The video shows the piano track being recorded. There are 10 other orchestral tracks that were recorded seperately.

On my list of dream jobs, one would be to write soundtracks/score for movies. I would *love* the chance to take a movie that has a blank slate musically and add the emotion through music. For me, a movie can live or die based on the music. It creates the emotional connection. I wrote this song as if it were a score for a movie. It wanders, rising and falling, to a climax and then repeats.

So, if you're currently working on the next blockbuster Hollywood hit and need a soundtrack call me!

This song was recorded entirely using the following VSTs.

Piano
Synthogy Ivory (Steinway)
Cello, viola & violin ensembles
Vienna Instruments Appassionata Strings
Flute, clarinet, oboe, trumpet & trombone ensembles
Miroslav Philharmonik
Tubular chimes, timpani
FXexpansion BFD2 Big Orchestral & Marching Band

I'm not a big fan of synthesizer strings but you've done a really good job with them. I think they sound much better here than in Kevin Kern's and even David Lanz' work. This would make a nice score in for some dramatic film. Maybe an upcoming John Grisham or something.
